Thanks to XCloud, a cloud-based gaming suite by Xbox, you can now play just about any console title on PC, even if it was never ported over. Here’s how to get started.
- Download the Xbox app. You can run XCloud through your browser (Edge or Chrome recommended), but I’ve found it to be far more stable through the app. You can download it here: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/apps/xbox-app-for-pc
- Obtain an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It has to be the Ultimate version. Purchasing it via the Xbox store can be expensive ($16.99/mo), but I personally prefer grabbing a code for it instead. I purchased a code from CDKeys (~$6-7) and can verify that it worked fine. The only downside to grabbing a code like that is that you can’t stack the subscription time. It’s also worth noting that using a purchased code will automatically set up a renewal with Xbox once the month is up, so be sure to cancel that beforehand if you don’t want to be charged the regular going rate.

- Open the Xbox app and select “
Cloud Gaming
” from the left-hand menu. This will show you the XCloud Cloud Gaming dashboard.

- Scroll down to the “
All console games
” section. There will be a search bar where you can find any console game you’d like to play (i.e, Fable II).

- Click on any title to launch the game. A new window will pop up, which will be streaming the game you’ve selected.
That’s pretty much all there is to it. Some important notes:
- You’ll need an Xbox controller to play these titles, as they’re not ported for PC.
- Saves are stored in the cloud and are tied to your gamertag. When you boot up a game, your gamertag is automatically signed in, loading your saves.
